“Winter Walk”

Sometimes you can find parking on Price Street. Then it’s just a short walk down the hill to the Elora Mill or the shops.

This was one of my earlier paintings, before I transitioned to oil. Looking back at older paintings can always be a little frustrating for the painter, because we know where all the bodies are buried. But there are many things I think worked well in this painting. For one, I appreciate that it captures an explicitly recognizable part of my town. Also, I am happy with the way the movement in Melanie’s gait was captured.
