“The Lucky Ones”

Taken from a photo from my friend Jeff’s instagram. What I liked about this is the chaos — the amount of instruments in a very small space; lots of people close together; the implication that they are playing some loud music…

The aspects that I am happiest about: the vibrancy of the orange in the double bass, and the highlights from the coloured lights (reflecting off their hats and faces, etc). I deliberately kept the details very fine near the faces and loosened my strokes the further down i went. I wanted the focus to remain near the top.
